Food, glorious food

Food, glorious food. Alderney does itself proud on the food front. Many of the island's restaurants boast culinary awards. Throughout the year, Alderney's chefs offer a choice of traditional British, international and even oriental cuisine, with menus ranging from the freshest of seafood to reasonably priced pub snacks or sunny garden barbecues.

Every May, the island's top chefs, restaurants, hotels and guest houses team up to produce the gastronomic highlight of the year, the annual Seafood Festival from 11-21 May. And you can rest assured – there’ll be meals to suit every taste bud and budget.

Belle Vue Hotel’s chef Gloria O’Toole tempting you with a selection of Seafood Festival Specials :  

Left to right: Poached Dover Sole Fillet with Tagliatelli and creamy sauce; Baked Cod Filled with Pesto Butter and Baked in Herb Crumbs (this recipe is published here); Skewered Crevettes with Lemon Rice and Jersey Black Butter; Paupiettes of Lemon Sole wrapped around Scallops and grilled. Served on Fresh Rocket with Mussels; Grilled Mackerel with Chilli Jam.

Just to give you an idea of what you can expect here in Alderney, we will be publishing a series of local recipes prepared by our chefs. So why not try it home and, if it doesn’t quite turn out as shown on the photograph, you can always hop on the next plane to Alderney to taste the real thing!. But if you couldn’t get here during the Seafood Festival, rest assured, the same high standards of cuisine and hospitality apply in Alderney all year round. Bon appetit.
